Tidal and SAP Business One: quotes and supplier invoices without retyping

Keep SAP Business One for stock, buying and accounts. Tidal does the typing that happens before it: RFQs become priced quotes, supplier invoices become checked bills, and both land in SAP Business One once a person approves.

No change to your SAP Business One set up. Connected through its API or an import file.

The short answer: yes, Tidal works with SAP Business One. SAP Business One is an ERP for small and mid size companies, widely used by marine distributors and suppliers that grew out of spreadsheets. Tidal sits in front of it: it reads RFQs and supplier invoices, prices and checks every line, and after a person approves, creates the Sales Order or A/P Invoice in SAP Business One with your own item, customer, supplier and tax codes. Your SAP partner keeps looking after SAP Business One. Tidal only creates the documents your team would otherwise key in.

What Tidal creates in SAP Business One

Two documents, each with the codes SAP Business One already uses.

Two ways to connect SAP Business One

Pick the one your team and your IT partner are comfortable with. You can start with files and move to the API later.

Through the API

Tidal connects through the SAP Business One Service Layer, which creates Sales Orders and A/P Invoices.

  • Documents appear in SAP Business One as soon as they are approved
  • Needs one API user with permission to create those documents
  • No files to move by hand

Through an import file

Tidal produces a file laid out for the Data Transfer Workbench.

  • Your team imports in batches, for example once a day
  • No API access needed
  • Good for a first trial or a locked down set up

What you can connect to SAP Business One

Each module is sold on its own.

Tidal and SAP Business One, answered

Does Tidal integrate with SAP Business One?
Yes. Tidal sends approved quotes to SAP Business One as Sales Orders and approved supplier invoices as A/P Invoices. It connects through the SAP Business One Service Layer, which creates Sales Orders and A/P Invoices, or produces a file laid out for the Data Transfer Workbench if you prefer to import in batches.
Do we have to change how we use SAP Business One?
No. Stock, purchasing, invoicing and accounts stay in SAP Business One exactly as today. Tidal only replaces the retyping of RFQ lines and supplier invoices.
How do Tidal items match our SAP Business One items?
Tidal’s catalogue stores your SAP Business One Item number beside each product, so every quote line and invoice line is sent with the code SAP Business One already knows. The same goes for your Business partner (customer and vendor) records and tax codes.
Does anything post to our ERP without a person checking it?
No. A person approves each quote and each supplier invoice in Tidal first. Only approved documents are sent to SAP Business One.
Do we need our SAP partner involved?
Usually only to create a user for Tidal on the Service Layer, or to agree the Data Transfer Workbench layout. Tidal does not change your SAP Business One set up.
Can we start with only one module?
Yes. Quote Desk and Invoice Capture are sold separately, and each connects to SAP Business One on its own.
How long does set up take?
It depends on how clean your item list and supplier price lists are. We start with a trial on your own documents, then load your catalogue and connect SAP Business One, and you run both side by side until you trust the results.
